THE PRACTICE ADVICE BILL BELICHICK GOT FROM JIMMY JOHNSON

From my Championship Performance newsletter this month:

After winning a Super Bowl, Bill Belichick asked former Cowboy and Dolphin coach Jimmy Johnson his advice on keeping the fire burning after winning championship. He said that practice is based on repetition, which is mainly positive, but have to find a a few ways to change things up.

"There is a danger in going back and doing the exact same things in practice you did the year before. Some of the players will start to tune you out. Mix in some things you haven't done in the past. Stick with the practice structure that got you to the Super Bowl, but also look for ways to keep it fun and interesting."

This segment from Championship Performance struck a nerve with me when I read as we can use some newness to our approach in practice and we are going to look at that tomorrow in our staff meeting.
